Iron Oxide Yellow is an ochre variant. Ochres are earth colors and occur worldwide in different shades: yellow, red and brownish. The color is caused by the iron oxide (rust) in the soil. These pigments have excellent color fastness and can be mixed with other pigments without any problems.
